Cold Weather Paws

Its been a long winter up here in the North, and it's been hard on our little friend's feet. The cold snow, sharp ice, road gravel and salt all take their toll on a dog's pads. How does your little guy like wearing booties? I see one on his walks every day. I think he's ready for Spring now too. Do you put any type of balm on the feet to help with cracking? Do you have a favorite recommended by your vet? Simple prevention can help reduce the chance of serious problems:
- Keep your dogs claws trimmed
- Keep the fur trimmed between the toes
- Check for pad abrasions and treat them quickly
- Wash your dog's feet when you get home
- Keep paws moisturized
Imagine your dog's feet like your own - when our feet get cold, sore and blistered they are painful to walk on and it makes us feel miserable. Your dog will be feeling the same way.

Taking care of your Pet

Because your dog can't tell you where s/he lives, Bring Your Dog Home specializes in custom embroidered pet accessories to help reunite you with your dog should you become separated when away from home. We work with rescue groups and take a firm stand against puppy mills. We stay active in community events related to these causes which are close to our hearts. All the dogs featured on our web site are rescues who now live in their adopted homes. Bring Your Dog Home is all about them. Do you have any rescued dogs in your life? We'd love to know your story.
